Texas Health Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program

The Texas Health Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program offers an exceptional opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in healthcare. This 15-week program is free of charge and provides a “learn while you earn” structure, combining classroom education, hands-on lab work, and practical externship experience. Graduates are prepared to sit for the national certification exam and transition into full-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) roles with Texas Health Physician Group.

Program Structure and Highlights

The program consists of 10 weeks of classroom learning followed by 5 weeks of externship in a clinical setting. Classes run full-time, Monday through Friday, and focus on equipping students with essential clinical and administrative skills. During the externship, participants gain real-world experience, working directly with patients and healthcare teams under supervision. Upon completion, graduates are eligible to take the national certification exam, a significant credential for medical assistants.
